Week Three Results

I'm a little slow to post my week three results for this one reason, I gained two pounds!!!!   AHHHHHHH!  I was totally shaken to the core yesterday.  I don't think a trip to the scale has ever  had such a mind blowing, tear evoking response from me, ever.  A bit of a drama queen you say, maybe, but you have to understand I did really well last week,  I even went to a bridal shower and refused all refreshments, even the super yummy Nothing Bundt Cake.

Needless to say, it was hard to start my week that way.  I was already in total anxiety mode because Mike left on Sunday for another business trip and won't be home until the following Monday.  So nine days on my own.  Not that big of a deal I know, but for all of the years that Mike has been traveling I have never been able to sustain an eating plan while he is gone.  The stress totally gets to me and unfortunately I am a stress eater.  I wish I could be one of you people who can't eat at all when the world is falling apart around them, and end up losing 20 lbs. in the middle of a crisis.  Once again, I am leaning more towards the dramatic, but really that's how it feels.  I would like to say that I am going to turn into a weight loss robot and be able to power through these challenging times, but the reality is that I am not.  Not only am I not a robot, but I am a human that needs to take it easy on myself when life gets a little rocky.  So I am going to be easy on myself this week.  That doesn't mean that I am going to totally fall off the wagon, but I am not going to stress myself out either.

To those of you who could really care less about my weight loss woes,  I apologies.  I have a bit of a one track mind these days.  I promise that will start to blog about other things at some point!

Mother's Day Funnies!!

My precious first born gave me a lovely poem that she penned herself in a cute frame for Mother's Day.  Below is a copy of the poem EXACTLY as I received it.

I AM

I am your daughter
You know me for the annoying one
My mother is caring and sweet
My father is a genital man
I live with my Joyful mother
My best friend is my mom
Because she is special to me
My enemy is not having my mom with me
I fear when my moms not here
she helps me when I am in need
I dream she will always be next to me.

Now aside from the lovely sentiment, and the disturbing lack of proper capitalization and punctuation, Mike and I were rolling on the floor.  See if you can find the funny!

Week Two Results

I'm down another 4.6 pounds!!!  That makes a total of 12.8 pounds.  This last week was pretty good and I managed to curb some of my weekend demons.  I figured out the trick is to stay busy.  Another challenge this week was a fun get together with friends on Friday Night (Thanks Angie, it was a blast!)  All of the guys (and two of my girls) went on the Father and Son's camp out on Friday night, so of course, us girls had to pool our yummy food recourses and gather together.  It was a fun but challenging evening, luckily I have the great example of my friend Melinda who is the gladiator of food challenges there to cheer me on.  The spread included some yummy veggies which I noshed on all night without dip.  A big change for me.  And the funny thing is that I still enjoyed the evening.  Food challenge for this week, accomplished.

My New Discovery!!

Well, this isn't new by any means, but it's new to me.  I have discovered Strawberry Freezer Jam!!  I have had it several times in my life and didn't realize how easy it is to make.  We had dinner at our friend's Jason and Autumn Vanderhoven's house on Sunday and they pulled out their freezer jam for the extra bread.  It was so yummy!!  Autumn told me how easy it is to make, so I thought I would do some research.  Now, keep in mind because of my new Weight Watchers commitment I am on the hunt for yummy and low point foods, and eureka, I have found one!!  All freezer jam is some type of fruit, sugar and freezer jam pectin.  If you replace the sugar with Splenda it becomes something that is super delish and not to bad for you.  In Weight Watchers language, you can have 4 tablespoons for ZERO POINTS!!!  Yesterday I went to the store and bought 4 lbs. of strawberries and made some last night, and as soon as I was done my neighbor told me that strawberries were going on sale today for $1 a pound.  So...not wanting to miss the opportunity, I again made the trek to Smith's and bought 14 lbs of strawberries.  Now we have strawberry freezer jam coming out the wazoo!  So, if you are in the vicinity, and would like to have a jar, stop in, I am more than happy to share!

Week One Results!

Well, I made it through my first week on the weight loss wagon, and I am happy to report I made great progress.  Today was my first weigh-in and I lost 8.2 pounds!  YEA!!!  Last Friday I had actually lost 10, but after the weekend the total was 8.2, still nothing to sneeze at.  I am very excited and hope for great things this week.  I just need to figure out how to get through the weekend without a minor melt down by Sunday.  Wish me luck!!

Race for the Cure!

I participated in my first 5K this weekend, granted we walked, but it's still a 5K.  Thanks to my friend Christene, she was the one to organize our team for this year's Susan G. Komen's Race for the Cure. Thanks Christene!!  Hopefully next year we will all be much sleeker and be able to RUN in the 5K race.

Our team consisted of Melinda, myself, Christene, Gayleen and Chrissy.  We had a blast joining with all of the amazing women to help fight breast cancer.  It was rather humbling to see all of the women with pink shirts, they are the survivors.  As much as I love pink, that's one shirt that I, or any of the women in my life, hopefully will never have to wear.
